I write The News Business,

a weekly blog on the news media published every Thursday by The Drum. Featuring exclusive interviews with digital media luminaries and thought-leaders from organisations including The New York Times, The Economist, CNN and the BBC, The News Business has become a weekly must-read for media industry professionals.

Each Monday, the i Paper and iNews.co.uk publish The Media Column, giving my insight into the wider media and technology sectors.

I’m an award-winning journalist with 25 years’ experience on the staff of The Independent, as Assistant Editor & Media Editor. I spent five years at The Sunday Times, including three years as a member of the famous Insight investigative team.

I have written on media for GQ magazine, and was a recent subject of the prestigious Media Masters podcast, which features media industry influencers.

I previously worked at ITV and am an experienced broadcast commentator on television and radio. I have a certification in Video Journalism at the London School of Media and Journalism.

CONSULTANCY

I offer strategic consultancy to clients.

Based on expertise gathered during 14 years of analysing and reporting the media sector for The Independent and i News brands, I give insight on content strategy and media relations, and am available to produce high-end written reports on specialist projects.

For the past three years I have been a media consultant to One Young World, the world’s leading global forum for young leaders, advising it on media strategy and content. I have been a member of its team at its global summits in Ottawa, Bogotá and The Hague, which have been opened by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.

I am an experienced broadcast commentator who has appeared on BBC News, CNN, Sky News and Al-Jazeera and been a frequent presenter of the What the Papers Say programme on BBC Radio and a regular media expert on Monocle 24 online radio.

My knowledge of the digital sector means I bring high-level contemporary insight and expertise to speeches and articles.

I will inject accessibility and warmth into the language. I have been Speech Editor and Speech Coach for One Young World for its past two global summits, in Bogotá and The Hague, preparing young leaders to deliver powerful presentations to an audience of more than 2,000 people including Presidents and Prime Ministers.
I have many years of experience of compiling first-person pieces for the national news media in the name and authentic voice of famous interviewees. My book, Rodigan: My Life in Reggae, a ghost-written Amazon best-selling autobiography for the BBC music broadcaster David Rodigan was published by Constable (Little Brown, Hachette) in hardback in 2017 and in paperback in 2018.
